Who Is This Woman?
Basically I’m a California girl. I grew up in L.A. and spent most of my adult years in the San Francisco Bay Area. I moved back to L.A. in March of 2005. For purposes of this blog, my birth name is not important. Hurricane Shirley is my anonyname in the blogosphere.
I now live in Glendale, California, with my cat Spooky. I am thrice divorced and, er, not currently dating.
In the 1980s and 90s, I was a songwriter and singer, held down a variety of low-paying day jobs, and raised two kids.
In February 2005 I began work on The Charlotte Stories, a series of short fiction pieces workshopped in the CraigsList Literary and Writing Forum. Under the handle BowlOfCherries, I’ve been involved there as contributor, copy editor, and co-editor of several fiction anthologies spawned from that forum.
Now self-employed as a freelance transcriber for writers and filmmakers in La-La Land, I digest my experiences, only sometimes worrying about where my next date will come from, learning to write stories instead of songs, and trying to get my ass out of debt.
